Students will learn to trim Poodles and poodle type coats, and more refined scissoring skills needed to perform the variety of poodle clips and finishing techniques.  Part 4 will be 8 classroom classes- 32 hours of training.  The last class will be a competency exam.  Students will need to supply a dog to groom and will be tested on their grooming ability.

Students MUST be able to Lift 50 LBS onto a table.
Students MUST be able to control a large dog.
Students MUST be able to safely use scissors without injuring animals.
Students Can be dismissed from the program if the instructor deems the student unsafe or harms an animal.

Part 4 consists of 8 Classroom Classes a total of 32 hours
Cost $399

Pet Grooming Part 1, 2 & 3 is a Prerequisite to take this class.

This training consists of four parts, each representing a more difficult skills progression level. Course fees include the textbook, some equipment, and use of the grooming laboratory at the BRCTC Morgan County Center in Berkeley Springs.
 
All grooming equipment and tools for training are available for student use; however, students are encouraged to
purchase grooming tools and equipment during the grooming course to prepare for a career in the field of Professional Pet Grooming.


Expectations Disclosure for the Career Advancement Continuing Education Pet Grooming Training
 
Pet Grooming by nature, can be a dangerous profession. Pet Grooming Training is dangerous to both the student and the animal being groomed.
Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Makes every effort to avoid incidents but cannot guarantee that students will not be bitten or injured by animals or equipment.
Blue Ridge CTC instructors and administrative staff maintain the right to limit skills practiced by the student in class if the instructor feels an animal may be injured or a student cannot use the equipment properly. Students are not guaranteed that they will be allowed to practice on all animals and all skills.
Blue Ridge CTC will try to be sure that each student is trained to the best of the students abilities.
