« back to classes page
Adult Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training addresses the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The course provides an action plan which is similar to one you would learn in a regular first aid course and trains you to notice warning signs, risk factors and protective factors. Completion of the course provides a three-year certification from Mental Health First Aid USA, which is under the National Council of Behavior Health. There are two scheduled classes which are free to the attendees. There is a maximum of 12 participants for each class. Masks and social distances procedures are required to be followed.

Upon complete of this training students will have skills which helps them approach a person they notice may be having a mental health issue and will have an action plan to assist them.
