Short Description: This flexible, self?paced training program develops essential technical and professional skills needed in today’s technology?driven workplace. Designed for completion in as little as two months over 160 hours, the program emphasizes hands?on learning through mini?projects and real?world problem solving, with no lectures or exams. Learners complete core coursework in workplace math, data literacy, computational thinking, and spatial reasoning, then customize their experience with electives such as data visualization, artificial intelligence, blueprints, or CNC. Personalized coaching and support ensure learners build confidence, adaptability, and career?ready skills.
Instructor Description: Though this program is a self-paced program it is supported by an educational mentor. Educational mentors are subject matter experts who have years of experience in their field as well as the necessary educational training and credentials to work as an expert. The mentor is available to answer any questions a learner may have including questions on course content, course material, certifications, and even industry questions. Mentors also monitor the progress of learners to ensure training retention and program advancement. In eLearning, motivation is a key tool to success. Because of this, mentors provide encouraging comments, feedback, and coaching to motivate learners throughout the duration of the program to support completion and success!
Certification: Upon successful completion of the Automotive Technology course series, students will be prepared to sit for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) national certification exams and pursue certification as an ASE?Certified Automobile Technician.
Automobile & Light Truck Certification (A1–A9)
These certifications validate the knowledge and skills of technicians who service and repair cars, SUVs, and light?duty trucks (up to Class 3).
Certification Exams Offered:
A1 – Engine Repair (50 questions)
A2 – Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (50)
A3 – Manual Drive Train & Axles (40)
A4 – Suspension & Steering (40)
A5 – Brakes (45)
A6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems (50)
A7 – Heating & Air Conditioning (50)
A8 – Engine Performance (50)
A9 – Light Vehicle Diesel Engines (optional)
ASE Master Automobile Technician Status
Technicians who earn certifications in A1 through A8 are recognized as ASE?Certified Master Automobile Technicians.
Note: A9 is not required for Master Technician status.
Recertification
ASE certifications must be renewed every five years. Recertification exams (A1R–A8R) are approximately half the length of the original tests.
