Curated for Small Animal Veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technicians, this hands-on workshop introduces basic concepts of abdominal ultrasound techniques for small animal patients. Emphasis is placed on normal abdominal anatomy and ultrasound appearance in dogs and cats using simulated models by Valkyrie Simulators. 3 hours of RACE CE approval. All certificates for RACE CE to be issued directly by the WVVMA.
Participants use an ultrasound to obtain knowledge on:
• The basic principles of ultrasonography; equipment setup,
operation, and optimization for diagnostic image creation
• Transducer types and proper handling techniques; patient
positioning and scan techniques
• Color Doppler and normal abdominal sonographic anatomy
• Systematic approach for image interpretation and collection.

Robert Nicholls, Lt. Col (Rtd), Meng (Hon), PGCert has over 20 years of expertise in training ultrasound scanning techniques.
He is the lead instructor for the fundamentals of ultrasound course at the New York School of Regional Anesthesia and has worked
with numerous ultrasound companies worldwide assisting in the development of ultrasound applications software and technology. Dedicated to improving the utilization of ultrasound for medical diagnosis and needle guidance he is the lead developer of unique ultrasound simulation systems for Valkyrie Simulators, located in Berkeley Springs, WV.
