Blue Ridge CTC is pleased to announce a Teen Summer Welding Boot Camp! High School students age 14 to 18 are invited to participate in this 4-day course to learn basic welding techniques using simulators and real welding equipment. The only way to register is to complete a special registration form providing required data for the DOL grant that is funding this camp. Call 304-260-4380 ext 2404 or 2411 or askme@blueridgectc.edu to obtain the secure link to the registration form. Student can only sigh up for 1 week (the class is the same all 3 weeks) due to limited enrollment.
Students will learn basic welding techniques using both MIG and SMAW (stick) welders. Each student will complete a basic, hands-on welding project.
Disclaimer: Welding is inherently dangerous and should be attempted cautiously. Students must come clothed properly, including long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and close-toed boots.
A new group of students will start each week. Classes will be limited to 10 participants.
The total cost of Blue Ridge Community and Technical College’s Technology Integration Project (TIP)/(CP000395) is estimated to be $492,000; 100 % of the project is funded through the U.S. Department of Labor.
