Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the role of veterinary professionals in assisting pet owners with behavior and training.
  • Learn the most effective training and behavior information veterinary technicians can provide to new pet owners.
  • Recognize common canine and feline behavior encountered in veterinary practice and understand how to respond appropriately.
 
This course deepens understanding of canine and feline body language, with a focus on identifying common behaviors observed in veterinary practice and appropriate response strategies. It equips veterinary professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively support pet owners, empowering new pet owners to provide their pets with the best possible foundation in behavior and training. And empowering veterinary professionals to effectively support pet owners with behavior and training challenges. By enhancing these skills, participants will be better prepared to address behavior and training challenges in a compassionate and informed manner.

Carrie Clemons is a Fear Free Certified Trainer with over 15 years of experience in veterinary medicine and a lifelong passion for animal welfare. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology and an Associate of Science in Veterinary Medical Technology from Wilson College. Her career has provided her with extensive knowledge of animal behavior, health, and the unique bond between people and their pets. In addition to privately training dogs in obedience and behavior modification, Carrie worked with America’s Vet Dogs, where she managed the Service Dog-in-Training Prison Program in Western Maryland, helping prepare service dogs to make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and first responders. Combining her veterinary background with extensive hands-on training experience, Carrie is dedicated to promoting positive, compassionate training methods.
